General - where the patient is put to sleep completely
Local - Injection to numb local area
Evaluation by anaesthesiologist and relevant test if required
Fasting for 6 hours
Medication through IV route
Placement of a breathing tube
Reversal of anaesthesia and removal of breathing tube after the surgery
Confusion and grogginess which improves with time till complete return of mental faculty
Variable amount of pain which is controlled with painkiller
Sometimes nausea and vomitting which is managed with medication
Sometime throat irritation which resolves spontaneously
Fasting for about 4 hours after which sips of water is given followed by gradual introduction of soft food
